America – the land of the free, the home of the brave. One of the leading nations of the 21st Century.
As great as our country is, it does have its flaws. And in recent times, things have evidently gone from bad to worse. As the citizens of our beloved nation, it’s up to us to work together to bring America back to its former glory and, as they say, “Make America Great Again.”
However, tackling problems that exist countrywide on an individual level is unfortunately near impossible. When things seem bleak, we turn to our lord and pray. We pray for his guidance and blessing. We pray that he showers upon us the wisdom that we need to correct ourselves and better our country.
If you’re someone religious, why not pray for America? A prayer that originates from your heart and soul. A prayer that lays bare all your shortcomings and asks the lord for humble betterment. If that sounds like something you’d like to do, read on.
We’ve compiled the 25 Best Prayers for America that you can recite and draw inspiration from.
Our selections feature prayers for the government, prayers for peace, intercessory prayers, and prayers for the church.

Long Prayers
15.) “Untitled”
Dear Father God, You are the supreme leader of the world. Help our leaders in the USA take their rightful place underneath Your sovereignty. Guide them to lead with a reverent fear of You. For when they use Your statutes as the basis for their laws, a country will thrive. But when they think that they know best, their nation will fall. Help them to look to You before they make decisions.
And help them to look to the vast experience of the military as advisors.
– Unknown
16.) “God, We Need You”
We need, You, God. Oh, how we need You! You have exercised nothing but faithfulness and fairness in Your treatment of our country, even when we’ve turned our back on You and forgotten Your goodness to us. Your discipline at times is hard, but You are just. Your purpose is always to draw us close to You, to bless us, and to make us a great nation who honors You. You are a good, good, Father—and Your love for us has a proven track record.
– Rebecca Barlow Jordan
17.) “Untitled”
“O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see
our desolations, and the city that is called by your name. For we
do not present our pleas before you because of our
righteousness, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, hear; 0
Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your
own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are
called by your name.”
– Daniel 9:18-19, ESV
18.) “A Prayer For Our Country”
Lord God and Heavenly King, You alone are the Lord of the earth and King of the universe, and You alone can revive and restore the United States Of America and bring us back under Your own Sovereign rule.
Give our President, together with his advisors and the whole of his administration, the wisdom and grace to turn from the ungodly path that they are following, and may they set this nation back on the path of trusting in God.
Motivate all our congressmen to strive for integrity and wisdom in all the choices and decisions they make, and may those that are entrusted as judges and lawmakers, likewise act in righteousness, impartiality and integrity as they work for the benefit of all people, and to the honour of Your holy name.
Heavenly King, we place our nation at your feet, and pray that we may once again serve You as a nation. May Your will be done in the once greatest nation of the world, the United States of America.
Amen.
– 1 Timothy 2:2

19.) “Prayer for Unity in America”
Father God,
We pray that you would unify your people for the glory of your Name that all who call themselves Christians would rise up, believing your great Truth. Wake us up Lord! Remind us to live aware, to redeem the time, to listen to your words, to be willing to make a difference in this land. We pray for all those in authority, that you would give them your wisdom and discernment as they lead. We ask that you would appoint strong, faithful men and women to serve this nation and our people
– Debbie McDaniel
20.) “Prayer to Love Others”
Lord, help me to see the issues around me in my community. Help me to be the person who goes out of my way to meet them. Lord, my heart has gotten hardened. I haven’t wanted to love people the way you love them. I’ve only loved those that think and act the way I do. Help me love people the way you love them. Help me to love enough I’d be willing to lay down my life for them. Amen.
– Michelle Lazarek
21.) “For America As A Nation Who Has Lost Its Way”
Loving Lord, I come to You to place the once great nation of United States of America at Your feet, knowing that our great country and it’s constitution was made for a moral and religious people and is wholly inadequate for any other form of government, and yet we have strayed so far from the principles and practices of our great founders, who drew up our constitution based on Your Word.
But Lord, although this was once the land of the brave and the home of the free, sadly there is so much that is wrong with our country that I fear for its future. Lord, as a people we have walked away from You and discredited Your holy name by the way that we have conducted ourselves over the past few years and there is no health in our land.
Look down in pity on our people and our land, and protect us from those that seem determined on destroying our nation. Send Your Spirit I pray, through the land of America, and touch the hearts of all those that are called by Your name to plead on behalf our people. Convict those that are damaging our infrastructure and as a nation may we turn away from our wicked ways and return You to Your rightful position, in integrity and truth.
I ask this in Jesus’ name,
Amen.
– Matthew 5:13
22.) “A Prayer for Leaders to Rise Up in America”
Lord God, we desperately need your wisdom. You have given us a great country, founded on principles and truths from Your Word. We need men and women who will honor You, trust You, and lead us once again back to You. We pray for servant leaders who love the things You love and who care more about others than themselves.
Raise up leaders with the greatest potential of godly leadership, those who can ease confusion, expose illusion, and heal delusion. You alone hold the power to turn the hearts of leaders, but You listen and use our prayers to move them into right action. Help us to be faithful to care and to pursue Your heart in prayer.
— Rebecca Barlow Jordan
23.) “Pray for the Enemies of the USA”
Dear Jesus, You told us to love our enemies. Our military keeps us as safe as possible so that Christians can pray for our enemies. No person or government is outside of Your reach, Lord. So touch all people, even our enemies, with Your love and grace so that they might come to a saving knowledge of You. Even when persecutions come, let us be like Stephen who prayed for his persecutors with his dying breath.

24.) “Heal our Land”
We pray for your great healing on our land. Shine your face on us dear God. We need you now, more than ever before. Our times are in your hands. Thank you that you are rich in mercy and full of grace. Thank you that you are forgiving and merciful. Thank you that you are strong and mighty. Thank you that you are for us and that you fight for us still today. Bring honor to your Name, Oh Lord, for You alone are worthy
– Debbie McDaniel
25.) “For America In A Time Of National Crisis”
Dear Father, there is much happening with our nation at the moment as we are facing a time of crises. The nation seems to be teetering on the edge of destruction and our government seems to have little ability or will to reverse what is coming upon our land and its citizens. Lord, there is increasing unrest and we ask that You guide our nation through this difficult period.
Lord, we pray for all in authority over our land and ask that You would lead and guide the decisions they are to make in this time of crises. We ask that those in leadership positions would be given the wisdom and ability to address all that is looming on the home-front at this present time. Give them grace to govern according to Your will, and may they not be motivated by self-interest, greed or party politics, but rather may they be led to guide our nation onto the path of peace and safety that only comes from You.
Protect all those that are in any way at risk or are suffering from lack or from fear of what is happening in this time of national crises. May we as a people unite together under Your banner of truth, to support and encourage each other, as we face this national crises together, as one nation under God.
Amen.
